Blind 25

Material: acrylic on canvas framed in steel
Size: 102 x 102 cm

Every work is framed into an individual frame out of steel.
No longer seeing heads are indicated on the 1x1m formats. These seem to be permanently wired or connected to something. The three bars represent a kind of blindfold that blocks the view. Here I translate my subjective impressions of the changing coexistence. I am particularly concerned with the lack of empathy I assume and the widespread inability to listen. The increasing interconnection of everything and everyone at all times and the associated alternative transparency, seem to lead to increasing, emotional and social isolation. An enriching exchange takes place only superficially. There seems to be a belief that a special moment, a special setting, an event, an experience becomes permanent property when it is filmed or photographed. This seems more important than enjoying the fleeting, irretrievable moment together with the other person. The works of the "flash for empathy" series offer the viewer a wide scope for interpretation with regard to their individual media use and their position in society, raise questions and stimulate thought. However, it should trigger a positive perception among the viewers and leave a good feeling. The intention behind the works is an appeal, a call to take a closer look again, to raise one's eyes, to adjust to each other, to see each other again, to listen and to enter into dialogue with one another, to make time for each other again to take. To reinforce this, I always use powerful color combinations that symbolize the great joy about the possible, ever-growing intercultural exchange, even over great distances. Thanks to this expressive composition, the works remain in the end as something positive in the memory, not as a raised index finger. The viewers can enter into a dialogue with themselves, question their own behavior in the fast-moving time around us, which is always driven by haste. Each of my works is finally encased in a steel shadow gap frame. This gives my work sustainability, robustness and perfection. The handmade steel frame emphasizes the expressive colors and rounds off the work with the shadow gap. It’s complete.
