Statement
“My work is a personal reaction to social issues."
She sees herself as a visual columnist.
Her sense and purpose in life are her paintings. She uses them to make people more open minded about the social and philosophical issues, to see if they agree or not.
Beauty and traditional painting can attract and give more willingness to at least try to understand. She uses color, composition, materials, icons to reach her goal.
She wants people to understand, we need a world with high moral standards and to show compassion! Learn from history. She is often indignant about what is happening in society.

Yvonne Welman Biography
After her education at the academy of arts Tilburg ( NL). She worked as a teacher in arts and art history.
To improve her qualities as a painter she took lessons in 16e and 17e centuries oil painting techniques.
The artist works with open acrylics in a layering technique. She often integrates textile fabrics and other materials from her personal history.
Her work has to be realistic, because she creates multifaceted and engaging paintings, that tell visual stories about her experiences and ideas.
The stories cover gender equality, social issues, art history and personal issues.
She does explore the Zeitgeist from a female view.
Serendipity, time and technique each play their part during the process of creating the paintings. It takes a lot of time to create her work which makes it possible to add a new idea. This stands in strong contrast with all the superficial images that we are surrounded with most of the day. She creates a more complex strip story from all the images we see every day.
