The first of my Blue Beach series was in the final of 2014.
The woman in the trench coat overlooks the beach, swarming with sunseekers and colored blue by parasols. She came for a relaxing stroll along the waterside. But that won’t happen. “Beautiful balloon”, she has to admit.
André Schoots paints imaginary tableaus, mostly colorful and sometimes a little curious. Next to tableaus he also paints narrative portraiture.
The tendency of André to embed thematic or narrative content is open-ended. He tries to compel the beholder to wonder. His ultimate hope is to inspire those who see the work to stick around a while and contemplate.
