Classicism is all about religion and renaissance is the rebirth of classicism ms. I stand for revival of this topic and style out of passion.
My artist name is Yoella W. Since my childhood I have been drawing palm trees with coconuts on a deserted island with a monkey and a sailing boot. Not just one or two drawings but a whole sketchbook full, making little changes until I thought it was perfect. I can only guess why--probably because living close to the North Sea coast in Noordwijk, we do not have exotic coconut trees. Later, I tried drawing cartoons--as my 7 year older brother was very good at it. I copied what he drew . In my adolescence, I changed style and preferences by the year. I painted Kandinsky-style abstract works and also tried pointillism . I recall that was very difficult and I don't remember if I ever completed it, but it increased my respect and esteem for the artist. Even though I studied clinical and neuropsychology I never stopped my artistic endeavour. While doing my thesis at Oxford University, I took classes at the Ruskin academy. Art is like breathing for me. Eventually, I took parttime time of work and went to art school for five years. I fell in love with the pre-and high renaissance painters. Bellini and Caravaggio and of course Michelangelo. I copied a lot and trying verdaccio and glazing. Wonderful but I could also respect El Greco’s brushstrokes. Later I added more contemporary colours to it and it became my own way of reviving the Renaissance so to speak. I like the drama of the classists and high renaissance, mostly executed in New Testamental scenes. In addition to painting I studied sculpture using wide variety of materials. For the last several years I have take lessons from Jurriaan van Hall, the son of Maja van Hall, who were superb painters and sculptors! For several years I have been working with polyurethane foam and silver paper. Also here my ‘handwriting’ is visible, and even in glass, what I recently discovered and like. But nothing beats my first love…painting
