Dutch cookie monster

Dutch cookie monster

Material: Oil on recycled wood,turpentine/cloth, putty knife and cuttings (geneverlabel/book).
Size: 46 x 61 cm

A bicycle wheel, windmill, sailing boat, typical stepped gable house, cheese, wooden clog, waffle cookie, bottle of genever and a Dutch book. All these objects are placed in front of a sunset. The sky is more organic, as this is the only thing that not man made in the Netherlands.

My name is Jorn, 41 years old and at the moment live in the city of Leiden, the Netherlands. I did not study art, but always had a very strong relationship with it. As an 11 year old I went with my mother on a tour to commemorate the 100 years of van Gogh passing away. The basis for my love of art was then founded. Eversince, I have been looking for my preferred style. I believe that a painting should have a bam factor: there I am!, an explosion of warm colours and a composition you want to fall into. I lived 10 years in Berlin, and that influenced me, it's graffiti, that 2 seconds glance from a subway train. A second closer look should interest the viewer as well, with funny details. I enjoy looking at artworks and painting, in these times of Covid19, political instability and climate change. Art frees my mind. I like a wide range of artists, but my favourites are Max Ernst and Georges Braque. I see art everywhere: a funky small street tag or a simple branch in the dunes can make my day.
