Set table in palazzo, Venice
Camilla van den Hombergh, Venlo (NL), 1959.
Having been trained as an educational scientist in my early years, it was only during a later period of life that I discovered my love for painting. Consequently, I started to take lessons in classical oil painting at the reknown Renshof Academy in the city of Nijmegen (NL). Although using time proven 17th century techniques, I developed a style which is decidedly my own, working in a loose, modern-realistic manner. My paintings can be seen as atmospheric descriptions of architectural beauty, usually depicting the exteriors and interiors of characteristic buildings. I enjoy playing with the modalities of light and space, occasionaly adding a slight touch of mystery and drama to stir up the imagination. Even though my work shows a large variety in tone, colouring and shade, each painting clearly bears my specific signature. My work is to be found on both Facebook and
