There's no light without dark, no love without fear, and in the case of a genderfluid person like myself, there's no gender without male/female.
I'm reflecting on gender fluidity and asking the question, when's an image perceived as male or female. I guess I'm searching for the one that's right in the middle.
Amsterdam based Visual Artist Femke Moedt studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, where she obtained the diploma in Fine Arts, with performative video art.
Later she returns to her first love.. painting.
Femke translates an fragmented (inner) world into eloquent and meaningful (mixed media) paintings.
Her work can be recognized by its powerful compositions, strong contrasts and for the most recent work, the use of magazine cut outs in combination with painting.
